A viral video making the rounds on Friday captured a heartwarming moment as Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stepped back into the classroom to teach at an as-yet unidentified school.

The video, shared on the Governorโ€™s official Facebook page with the caption โ€œOnce a teacher, always a teacher,โ€ shows him writing the word โ€œDrugsโ€ on the board while engaging the class in an interactive session. At one point, he asked the pupils to name three forms of drugs, encouraging participation and sparking lively responses.

This gesture comes weeks after Governor Aiyedatiwa, in March 2025, approved the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers across all 18 local government areas of Ondo State, a move aimed at strengthening the education sector.

According to the Governor, the initiative, funded through the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention, is part of a sweeping upgrade of the education system

Alongside the video, the Governor also shared a detailed update on recent strides in the sector, “Today, we took a significant stride toward a brighter future for our children as we flagged off the distribution of textbooks, Android tablets, and sports equipment to public schools across Ondo State.

“This initiative, funded through the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention, underscores our unwavering commitment to quality education for every child, regardless of background.

“Classrooms under construction and rehabilitation in over 100 schools, Over 75,000 textbooks and digital learning resources distributed, State-of-the-art furniture and modern learning facilities provided, 2,100+ new teachers recruited, trained, and empowered, Comprehensive support for sports and extracurricular excellence

“We are laying a solid foundation for the next generation, ensuring our children have the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

“With every book, tablet, and sports kit, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we will continue to advance education, empower dreams, and unlock potential.”
