Anambra Assembly committee inspects ongoing Okija Ihiala Road Project.

The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure on Wednesday conducted an inspection of the ongoing Okija-Ihiala road project to evaluate the progress and quality of work.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emma Nwafor, who led the oversight visit to the 4.1-kilometer stretch, said that the inspection was aimed at identifying challenges and ensuring the project meets expected standards.

From what we have seen, the road has been tarred, but there are several discrepancies that need to be addressed, including overlaying. However, the drainage appears to be functional, and the community has been cooperative with the contractors,” Hon. Nwafor said.

Also speaking, Hon. Golden Iloh, who represents Ihiala II Constituency, highlighted the importance of the road, describing it as a major link between Ihiala town and Okija. He praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for promptly responding to the needs of the people by awarding the project early in his administration.

My constituents have long clamored for this road. We are pleased with the progress so far and hopeful for its completion soon. The excitement from residents shows how much this means to us,” Hon. Iloh said.

The site Engineer for Rojel Company, Mr. Mark Agu, assured the lawmakers that the issues raised during the inspection have been noted and will be addressed. He pledged the company’s commitment to completing the project on schedule.

Meanwhile, the community’s youth leader, Mr. Victor Obi, expressed satisfaction with the work done and called for the installation of speed bumps to regulate traffic and ensure safety. He also reaffirmed the community’s support for Governor Soludo, vowing continued backing for his administration.
