
The Coordinator National Youth Council of Nigeria, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, Hon Mmaduabuchi Ezekafor has declared that major stakeholders gathered together for the sake of the girl- child in Aguata.
Comrd Mmaduabuchi stated this at the event “Aguata Girl Child Symposium, 2025”theme: “ The Girl Child, Breaking Barriers, Empowering the Future”,he organized at St John Anglican Cathedral along Aguata Secretariat Road.
While addressing the press, Comrd Mmaduabuchi stated that there is need for more action and persistent campaign, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for their future.He said today’s generation of girls is disproportionately affected by global and societal crises of climate, conflict, poverty and pushback on hard won gains for human rights and gender equality.
He further stated that Too many girls are still unaware and unenlightened, thereby suffering abuse, lack access to health, education and empowerment, which is limiting their chances for a brighter future.
He, said that recent analysis shows that girls are not only courageous in the face of crisis, but hopeful for the future. Every day, they are taking action to realize a vision of a world in which all girls are protected, respected and empowered, this is core aim of organising the Aguata Girl Child Symposium.
Mmaduabuchi mentioned that his vision for the event which is just the maiden edition is to be sure that the girl child in Aguata today will in future become the Aguata Women of national and international reputation.He said with the right support, resources and opportunities, the potential of the girl child will lead, bring impact that will make families, communities and economies to be stronger to make our future brighter.
“It is time to listen to the girl child, to invest in the advancement of the girl child to accelerate progress towards a future in which every girl can fulfil her potential” Mmaduabuchi said.
Highlight of the event was presentation of awards to stakeholders of Aguata and Anambra State who have contributed immensely to the development of the youths of Aguata Local government Area of Anambra State.
