
The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, at its 40th Regular Meeting held from Monday, 7th to Friday, 11th July, 2025, has approved the promotions of nine academic staff of the university to the rank of Professor, twelve to the rank of Reader, and 26 others to the rank of Senior Lecturer, all in the 2023/2024 appraisal year.
The list of the new professors of the university include: Fabian Onyekachi Ugwu (Professor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology), Nweze Emmanuel (Professor of Mathematics –Atomization & Modeling), Okolie Nkem Charles (Professor of Social and Political Philosophy), Cyril Sunday Ume (Professor of Chemical Engineering and Analysis) and Benedette Nneka Okezie (Professor of Environmental Accounting).
Others are; Nworie Okoro (Professor of Medical Microbiology), Otu Akanu Otu (Professor of Public Administration), Muonye Jane (Professor of Agricultural Economics) and Okolo Chinwe Jane (Professor of African Francophone Literature).
Meanwhile, Management had earlier regularized the promotion of two academic staff to the rank of Professor after external assessment. They are: Albert E. Okorocha (Professor of Physiology) and Francis A. Ibiam (Professor of ENT).
In the cadre of Reader, the newly promoted staff include: Chuks Marcel Ezemoyih (Reader in Business Education- Accounting), Obande-Ogbuinya Nkiru Edith (Reader in Health Education),Ikpor Isaac Monday(Reader in Accounting), Sikakwe Gregory Udie (Reader in Environmental Geosciences), Ezurike Benjamin Okechukwu (Reader in Design and Automation) and Eni Onyekachi (Reader in Environmental Law).
Others are as follows: Nnachi Robert Azu (Reader in Accounting), Njamanze Vivian Chizoma (Reader in Sociology), Enyoghsim Oguwuike Michael (Reader in Monetary Economics), Ojide Makuachukwu Gabriel (Reader in Development Economics), Nwosu Hyginus Emeka (Reader in Human Resource Management) and Nwoma Chukwu Romanus (Reader in African Literature).
This latest promotions of staff of the university, has once again underscored the positive disposition of the administration of Professor Sunday Elom, to staff welfare. The Vice-Chancellor had on assumption of office assured of his irrevocable commitment to staff welfare, promising to make it one of its top priorities, adding that under his watch, no staff would be victimized. He maintained that all qualified staff that meet the promotional criteria, will be promoted on schedule.
This, he has ensured in the last 4 years through yearly promotions of staff of the university of all cadres, teaching and non teaching, and senior and junior staff, without bias and favouritism.
